So I have gone back to cloth diapering and am officially addicted again. I guess it is a true addiction because I couldn't stay away. Just the other day I bought eight new diapers. Happy Heinies to be exact and I can't wait for them to arrive. These were definately needed though since I just lost my six fuzzi bunz because Raider grew out of them. Two of the Happy Heinies I just bought will be going to my sister so I am really only replacing the six fuzzi bunz. The two diapers that are going to my sister are cowprint. I already have the cowprint one so we are excited to take a picture of all the boys in their cowprint diapers. Too bad we don't have little cowboy boots for them all.
Ben used to laugh at my addiction to cloth diapers, but the funny thing is he is the one who got me started. I remember when we were just talking about having kids and he would always say that he wanted me to do cloth diapers. I always kinda said yes but thought what a pain that was going to be. One day though we were at my sister's house and she was like I found this awesome diaper called a fuzzi bunz and it makes cloth diapering so easy and they come in all different colors. Ben was so excited and immediately went and checked them out. My sister bought us the first six diapers and then I bought myself some more from another brand called bum genius. I was still not completely sold on the whole cloth diapering thing. I just felt like it was going to be a lot of work. When Raider was 8 weeks old though he finally was big enough to fit into the diapers I had so I began to use them just during the day. I fell in love and started using them all the time a week later. They were not difficult at all. At that point I had about twelve diapers so I was doing laundry every night. I would just start the laundry before bed and dry the diapers in the morning. The type of diapers I had were all pocket diapers which you have to stuff with an absorbent liner. Every morning I would take some time to stuff all of Raider's diapers. To some people this might seem like a chore but to me it was time every day where I could just sit and relax and have some me time. Now I have a stash of about 24 diapers and do wash about every three days. I love the fact that I am not contributing to the landfills in our country (Ben once told me that 30% of all nonbiodegradable garbage was disposable diapers) and that Raider looks so cute with his cloth diaper butt. I also am saving a fortune not only in diapers but also in baby wipes since I have bought and made myself some cloth wipes (they wash alongside the diapers). Ben was the one who wanted to cloth diaper based on his love for the environment and now I am the one who has fallen in love and even become addicted. I will be sad the day that Raider is potty trained and I no longer can cover his bum in a cute cloth diaper.

Hooray for cloth diapers! :) You know I'm right there with you sister! When your life is settled down a bit, you should branch out and try some fitteds with covers, or even wool. *sigh*, I can just see Raider in a cute pair of wool pants. LOL. Love ya!
Have you ever made your own baby wipes as well. I've done it a few times. You cut paper towel rolls in half and soak them in basically soap and then put them in an air tight container after you get one. It apparently is gentler on those babies who use cloth diapers than the store bought ones.
Be sure to take that picture of all the kids in the cow diaper with a high resolution and then you can submit it to the www.happyheinys.com baby diaper picture contest and possibly win a $50 gift cert. for the happy heiny store.

You are too cute Kirstin! I have never known anyone to be so excited and geeked about cloth diapers! Love ya girl!
After reading this, I am sold on using cloth diapers when I start having my babies. Just think of all the used diapers you prevented from going into a landfill just by writing that blog!! I will try to spread the good word to others, too. I had just never really considered cloth diapers before. Thanks for opening my eyes to this new world!
