The Fourth of October

Ben was responding even more today. He was keeping his eyes open for longer periods of time and giving stronger hand signals. He even nodded his head yes and no. It was so great to just sit and talk to him today. You could tell what his emotions were and you could tell when he was sleeping or awake. The only problem is that he is constantly trying to get at his catheter and breathing tube. I am sure these things are very uncomfortable but if he were to actually pull them out it would not be good at all. This morning my mom and I took Raider to the Houston Zoo. Ben and I had planned on taking him today before he ended up back in the hospital. We felt that Ben would be happy that Raider still got to go. It was a lot of fun despite the heat and the fact that we had to park a million miles away (well not really but it still was kinda far). We got to see the elephants, monkeys, tiger and a bunch of fish. We didn't get through the whole zoo but what we saw was perfect for and 8 month old. I was surprised though that we never found any gorillas, which is usually my favorite exhibit. It was a good Saturday. Please continue to pray that Ben regains more of what he has lost and that we can continue to communicate with him.

Good job Ben! Keep up the progress your little boy misses you. Who am I kidding we all miss you. I remember so clearly taking Soraya to the zoo for the first time. Funny you mention the gorillas, because I remember them so much on that visit. Wish I could have been there for Raider's first visit.

Kirsten,
You are such a beautiful wife. It is so nice to read about the beauty you have in your daily life despite the rest. You are so strong and so positive. Thank you for the blogging. It helps us to still feel connected to you. We love you and Ben and Raider. The church here is all thinking of you all and praying for you and pulling together all the funds we can. We look forward to having you home safely. Bryan and I hold you dear in our prayers. We love you all so much! You are beautiful and blessed.
