Day 2
Radiation seemed to go well yesterday. As Marla, Terry and I were waiting for Ben yesterday we heard someone ring a bell and then a bunch of clapping. Then a guy opened a door and came out holding his mask that they use during radiation and saying that felt good. At first we were kind of puzzled but then we realized that it must of been his last day of radiation treatment. Ben's first day and someone else's last day. I sure am looking forward to the day that Ben gets to ring that Bell and we all get to applaud as he leaves the hospital with his mask. Anyway that seems like a long way off considering today is only his second day of treatment. It feels good though to be doing something and fighting this thing instead of just sitting around and waiting. Tomorrow Ben begins his actual Occupational and Physical Therapy and then Friday he will have a Speech therapy appointment which will hopefully be his last. Jenna has now gone home which was hard for us all but the children's floor at the library needs her back. She left this hurricane disaster to head back to Indiana where they are experiencing insane amounts of flooding which was also caused by Ike. It actually took her longer to get from Midway airport to home than the flight from Houston to Chicago. My dad will be driving down here this weekend to bring us our car and other much needed items. We didn't know exactly how long we were going to be down here so we really didn't bring all that much. Thanks again for all your thoughts and prayers, we really do miss you all and can't wait to come home.

I can't wait for the bell! Make sure you document it in on film. Can't wait till you get your car and have a little of your own space. Fight Ben fight as we pray Ben pray. You are young and strong and if anyone deserves results it is you. Thinking and loving you all always. Dreaming of memories to be made.
What a nice reminder that Ben will have a bell, too. I'm glad you get to see your Dad, and mine, soon. Stay strong and positive. Love you guys. Give that little baby of yours a kiss for me. We are excited for the day your family drives that car back home.
