The lunch that never ends
Today we headed to the Galleria for some window shopping. We decided we should eat lunch first though since it was around noonish. The Fox Sports Grill sounded nice and Ben wanted to watch some football so we got a table next to the TV showing the Bears game. We didn't realize that it would take us almost three hours to eat. The place was packed and we made a joke about Ben being distracted by all the noise, lights, and images everywhere. (the speech therapist had told Ben to limit these distractions so that his brain wouldn't be working so hard). It turns out all these stimulations were worse for Raider than for Ben. First of all Raider was ready for a nap and all this sports bar stimulation did not help. Our waiter was probably waiting on at least 15 tables all full of people so it took him a while to get our drink orders and then to come back and get our food orders. We had ordered an appetizer which turned out to be a good thing because after about a half hour of waiting for our food the waiter came by to inform us that our order had dropped into the bucket by accident and so it was just now being put in but that he would give us our appetizer free and give us free dessert. Raider was not doing well at all. He was so fussy and nothing was helping. I tried to lay him down in his stroller and put him to sleep but that just made things worse and he screamed even louder. I so just wanted to leave and go back to the hotel with him but I couldn't so we were stuck in this restaurant waiting for our food with an extremely cranky little boy. Finally our food came and I could barely eat while holding Raider. Then I decided I would try to feed him and see if that helped. By the time I got back everyone was done eating, but at least Raider was good for the few minutes that I scarfed down my meal. Then because we were getting free dessert we had to order it and then wait for it. As soon as I was done eating, Raider was done being happy. When the bill came we had accidentally been charged for the desserts. Raider couldn't handle the restaurant any longer so I got up and left with him. By the time everybody else got out of the restaurant it had almost been three hours. It literally felt like the lunch that would never end. But hey we got some really good free creme brulee (my favorite). The rest of the day we spent wandering around the Galleria which by the way has three different Armani stores (who knew there were so many) and every other designer name you can think of's store. It was kind of intimidating to be around so many expensive stores that I knew I couldn't afford. By the time we got back to the hotel we all were beat so we headed back to our rooms for some rest. Later Ben got to watch Sunday night football which was exciting since it was the Packers but extremely disappointing since they lost. Marla and I went for a nice walk near the hotel and we spotted a frog hopping along the sidewalk. It was so cute. The other day Marla and I saw an armadillo which was really exciting since I had never seen one before. Ben likes to look for lizards, which there are a ton of. Well tomorrow Ben has OT and PT at 9am and radiation at 1pm. It is back to our daily visits to MD Anderson. I was reading an earlier post last night and it had mentioned how the hospital was such a maze and I couldn't believe how people could ever find there way around. I now feel like an expert. I should get a job there as a transport because I now know where everything is. Please pray that we all get some good rest this week and that we get power back soon.

I am happy you are at a point where your baby throwing a fit in a resturant it the most stressful part of your day. Back to the grind tomorrow. We missed the Seahawks game, but caught the Packers game. Disapointing though it was the new QB still doesn't look to bad. Hope you get the power back soon.
So much for a nice, relaxing lunch! At least you got some football in. Thanks for the daily blog. It is such a nice thing to read every night and helps all of us across the country feel connected. Love you guys.
Whew! Just reading about your restaurant experience is exhausting lol! Glad you made it through! :)
It was the lunch that never ends, and it goes on and on my friends.......
Sorry, couldn't resist the camp humor. Take care you guys, and don't go blowing our donations on Armani! :-)
