Meds, meds and more meds

So here is a picture of Ben's meds all lined up. It is insane how many meds he is actually taking. The first day when we were discharged the medicine schedule was totally screwed up. I think it had him taking meds like at 6am 8, 9, 5pm 7pm and 9pm. It was just crazy so I figured out how to streamline it somewhat. Now he only takes meds at 9am, 6pm, 9pm and 9:30pm unless we eat late and then he has meds again later in the evening. At 9am he takes four pills and 6pm he takes two pills, at 9pm he takes three pills, a dissolving tablet thingy and a shot, and at 9:30pm he takes the last three pills for the day. That adds up to12 pills, 1 dissolving tablet thingy and 1 shot every day. I have gotten pretty good at giving him his shot but it was quite difficult to get used to stabbing your husband in the gut every night. The meds he takes are for anti-nausea, anti-seizure, a steriod to help with inflammation, a stool softner, a blood thiner and chemo therapy. It must be crazy for Ben to take all these meds every day considering he has never even had a cavity.

Well anyway yesterday ended up being a great day. We had all our appointments in the morning and we stopped by the hospitals library before we left. We checked out three books, a magazine and a cd. Later in the day we went to Costco and JCPenny's. It was so nice to get out and do normal things like go shopping. We stocked up on some snack food because we will be heading to a hotel soon since we still do not have any power. I also found a gift card in my wallet for JCPenny's that must have been from when Raider was born. So we picked up a Houston Astro's shirt and some gym shorts for Ben and a cute new onesie for Raider. I still have some money left on the card so I might go back this weekend and see if I can find some lounge pants for myself. I was beginning to run out of clothes since we don't have any power so I am currently sitting in the basement of the hospital doing laundry. Thank goodness they have power, internet and laundry facilities for patients. Today is Ben's long day and we meet with Dr. Levine later. Tonight I think we are going to just go home and relax and maybe get to read one of those books we checked out. That is if Raider lets us.
