oatmeal, anyone?
It was another long day at the hospital consisting of PT, OT and radiation. Raider was in a much better mood today which really made things easier. I went with Ben to Occupational Therapy today which turned out to be a lot of fun. They had him doing a bunch of household chores which he did very well. He had to pay two bills by writing the checks and balancing the checkbook, use a phone book to look up a number to a grocery store then call them and ask if they delivered groceries, make a bowl of oatmeal and wash dishes. He was able to do all these activities by himself with ease. I had to laugh though because after he called the grocery store he was to report to the therapist what they said. He got off the phone and reported that they said they did not carry any groceries. The therapist then asked who exactly did he call. his response was Cost Plus World Market. For those of you who don't know that store it is kinda like a pier 1 but it also carries imported food and drink items. I have no clue why it was listed under grocery stores or why Ben would choose to call it when there were plenty of other stores to choose from and he knew exactly what Cost Plus World Market was. Oh well he still was able to complete the task and I guess that is all that is important. While Ben was in radiation a guy around our age came into the waiting area and I began to talk with him. He was from South Dakota and here in Texas for treatment. It was his first day of radiation. I was hoping that his appointments would be at 1 everyday too because it would have really been nice to become friends with someone down here going through a similar situation but it turns out his appointments are going to be at 11:45am. Who knows though maybe we will see him around the hospital. I feel like we are finally getting into a routine and this roller coaster we are on is leveling out. We aren't able to get off of it yet but it isn't as bumpy and there aren't as many loops. Please continue to pray for a smooth ride for all of us.
