Our First Hurricane
Today has been all about the hurricane. This morning was nice and sunny as we packed up our stuff to move to the main house. But as we finished packing things up the weather had changed and become windy and gray. We decided to go out for lunch but everything was already closed except for Kentucky Fried Chicken. I don't think I have ever seen a KFC so packed. We were frightened that by the time we got up to order they would be out of chicken, but we lucked out and that didn't happen. It was so strange driving around. There were no cars on the road and a bunch of the businesses had boarded up there windows. Before we left Colleen (Marla's cousin) had come down to the guest house and put the hurricane shudders down which was something I had never seen before. We feel very safe where we are at and actually I am kinda excited to experience my first hurricane ever. I guess for those of you who know me well that wouldn't surprise you at all. Like I said before I may not be able to update the blog the next couple of days if the power goes out but I will get back on here as soon as the power is restored. If I don't get back on before Monday please pray for Ben as he begins his chemotherapy on Monday. We love and miss you all.

Yeah Baby! Are you going to stand outside at 110 miles an hour, jump up, and see how far you flew? I know, I know....the danger is the debris, not the wind. But haven't all of us wanted to be that weather reporter barely hangin' on to the tree?!
Good Luck! Take lots of pictures and drink some good beverages. Celebrate this amazing act of God for all of its power, destruction, and KFC. We'll keep you in our prayers.

Glad to hear the therapy sessions went well. That's great news! Roger talked to Colleen today so we knew you were all going to the main house during the hurricane. Stay safe--all of you! From the reports I'm watching, this one is a doozie and you all need to be careful. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Stay safe!! Love, Marcia and Roger
Its a good thing you and Ben embrace things like natural disasters! If I were there, I already would have been hiding under the bed for the past week! Enjoy it I guess, but be careful. We look forward to hearing all about it. Love you guys!

Batten down the hatches!! I guess you will really get a chance to feel the humidity now! Sammy says "Ben's my best friend and I miss him". He also misses Riley and said "I can take care of 'Rireee'" when we told him Riley was going home with his "Grandpa". Hold on tight!!
I am so glad you made it out okay. Hopefully not to much damage and flooding and not too long without power. Had another sleepless night knowing Ben was starting his chemo. I pray he tolerates it well and it does its job even better than expected. Riley feels so much better with his hair cut and dad will have him in shape in no time. Don't worry Ben he was totally spoiled even with Harley around. They of course had a blast chasing each other around.
We're thinking of you every day. The storm has passed and hopefully you'll be able to get out and about soon. If Houston could just get that power back... All of you are in our thoughts and in our hearts. Sending you love and best wishes!

Hi Kirst and Ben,
I'm hoping you all survived the hurricane ok, but more importantly, I hope chemo/radiation goes well. I too think about the 3 of you daily, and keep you in my prayers. Leave it to you, Kirstin, to make sure that I am having conscious contact with God on a daily basis!
And I am so grateful that Meg isn't in Houston, or I would have to go down there and pull her out from under the bed!!
I appreciate reading your posts.
Love to you, Ben and Raider.
Pamela
